Despite a series of high picks over the past few years, the St. Louis Rams still haven’t turned the corner. How can they make that happen in 2015?
Austin Davis isn’t anything special
Injuries have really played havoc on the Rams in 2014, so it’s difficult to get a bead on who they are. If there is one area of the roster that is certainly in need of an upgrade, it’s quarterback. Sam Bradford is, in all likelihood done with the team and perhaps the rest of his career after back-to-back ACL injuries. His replacement Austin Davis has had some nice moments but anybody with eyes can see the young kid doesn’t have that something that makes him special. Granted, not all teams need “special” to win but if the Rams want to compete in that division, they most certainly do.
Best Answer To Problem: Jameis Winston – QB – Florida State
So the question is why do the St. Louis Rams select polarizing quarterback Jameis Winston and not make a play for Oregon star Marcus Mariota? Winston has a number of red flags regarding his characters that is scaring a lot of teams away, after all. The truth is that Winston is as good or better talent-wise than Mariota. He has a national championship and Heisman trophy. Mariota does not. Then there is the style of game. Based on his size, mobility and arm talent, Winston bears a striking resemblance to former quarterback great Steve McNair, the same man Rams head coach Jeff Fisher drafted and developed into an MVP. It’s not hard seeing him have the same success with Winston. Never mind the fact that Fisher also has a history dealing with players who have character issues.
