This isn’t ground-breaking news to anyone, but Todd Gurley continues to blow me away with how good he is on a week to week basis. In case you’re looking for the next top 10 player at the running back position, it’s this kid out of Georgia. Gurley possesses elite burst, balance, vision, cutback ability, toughness between the tackles, and has a nose for the end zone. He is also one of the best third down backs I scouted all offseason in terms of both pass protection and ability to catch passes.
This is such a good natural player at the running back position and you can see his talent on display Saturday, where he has two touchdowns against Vanderbilt as I type this. Look at Gurley out of the Wildcat formation here:
Here’s another touchdown of his from 15 yards out, showing his ability to break tackles with relative ease. You cannot arm tackle this guy.
On the day, Gurley has also tacked on an additional two catches for 24 yards, and is building on another phenomenal game in what has turned out to be a Heisman-worthy junior campaign. If everything checks out for this guy off the field, and right now I have no reason to believe it won’t, I foresee him being a top 10 pick easily and perhaps even in the top five selections. There is nothing not to like about his game.
