It’s time for Thursday Night Football, Vikings vs. Packers which unfortunately won’t include star rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who was injured in last week’s win over the Falcons for Minnesota.

The spotlight instead will be on rookies Jerrick McKinnon (RB, MIN) and Davante Adams (WR, GB) as far as fantasy football goes, and this is potentially a huge week for Adams to show up and prove a worthwhile addition to your fantasy football roster. If you’re in a 12-team league, standard scoring or otherwise, he’s worth an add because the Packers could look to him for a breakout night in prime time against the Vikings on Thursday.

Adams had a touchdown wiped out against the Chicago Bears on a play that resulted in a holding penalty for Green Bay. It wasn’t the fault of Aaron Rodgers (who made a ridiculous throw) or Adams (who made the catch), so you know the Packers are trying to ease him into a more amplified and prominent role in their offense. With Jarrett Boykin out with an injury and the Vikings likely to key their coverage in on either Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb, it’s fair to assume that Aaron Rodgers might have some available throwing lanes in the direction of the former Fresno State star.

The Packers used a second round pick on Adams, and in a receiver class as good as this one, they might as well have used a first rounder. There may have been first round talent on the board well into the end of the second round, and Adams is no exception. The Packers got a guy who was an absolute touchdown machine with Derek Carr and the Bulldogs of Fresno State. That doesn’t happen (usually) by accident. To follow up a great collegiate career, Adams showed better than anticipated athletic ability in testing before the draft.

This is a guy you need to go pick up, perhaps even consider playing tonight depending upon how desperate the scenario. I won’t go so far as to say that Adams is going to supplant Jordy or Cobb on your fantasy roster anytime soon, but he’s certainly a guy capable of having a big night every once in a while, even more so than Jarrett Boykin, who was probably drafted late in most leagues.

Take a long look at Davante Adams tonight, and thank us after the game if you took the advice and rolled the dice.

Or maybe you won’t…
