According to a report from Rand Gatlin, the 2015 NFL Draft will be held in Chicago instead of New York City, citing a league source.
This is a pretty significant development for the NFL and consumers of the draft. As big as the draft has become over the last two decades, it’s now a three day event that the city of Chicago is absolutely perfect for, for the same reasons New York City is a perfect venue. It’s a big city with a ton of appeal from a tourist standpoint, and a place that has so much rich football history.
The city of Chicago no doubt will embrace this event and put on a phenomenal show, and this year’s draft is reportedly going to be held a week earlier than the 2014 draft. Tentatively, they are planning on holding the event April 30th-May 2nd.

The location of the draft doesn’t necessarily matter to the players involved, but this is a pretty cool story since the draft has been held in NYC for all these years. It will be cool to see how a different city responds to it, especially now since the infamous Jets and Giants fans won’t be highlighted as booing and cheering their picks. It will now be the loud roars of the Bears faithful.
