If you blink over a weekend of college football, you just might miss something.

Where were you when Western Kentucky quarterback Brandon Doughty lit up Bowling Green to the tune of 569 yards passing and six touchdowns?

Through one week of the college football season, Doughty leads all players in passing yardage, passing touchdowns, QB rating, and completion percentage (82.1).

Doughty’s performance is noteworthy, despite the competition. If anyone puts up those kind of numbers, we’re going to take notice. Especially since Doughty wasn’t on our list of pre-season quarterbacks to scout.

The senior is coming off of a record-breaking season at Western Kentucky as a junior, which wasn’t overly thrilling to the average college football fan but was clearly something else for the Hilltoppers. He was named C-USA player of the week after his week one performance, and has firmly planted himself on the ‘sleeper’ list for the 2015 NFL Draft.

At 6’3″ 210 pounds, Doughty has solid size for a QB though he could probably add some bulk, and he obviously has some arm talent. He completed nearly 66 percent of his passes as a junior, which is rock solid but could be improved upon.

If he continues to put up stat lines like this one, he’ll be on NFL radars all year long.
