It’s always been said that a Pro Day does not make or break a player’s draft stock, but apparently Teddy Bridgewater’s was so bad that he has the best scouts in the country second guessing their evaluations of him.
Mike Mayock, the lead scout and draft analyst for NFL Network, had this to say about his new-found concerns with Bridgewater, just a couple of months after ranking him the number one player at his position in the draft after what he did on the field.
“I’ve never seen a top-level quarterback in the last 10 years have a bad pro day, until Teddy Bridgewater,” Mayock said. “He had no accuracy, the ball came out funny, the arm strength wasn’t there, and it made me question everything I saw on tape because this was live.”
Because of all this, Mayock said on PFT Live that he “would not take Bridgewater in the first round of the draft.”
That is a huge drop for a guy that has been considered the number one quarterback all year long, and one of the first and very few times you hear about a Pro Day completely wrecking someone’s first round status.
If Bridgewater falls out of the first round, personally I feel like he’d be a bargain prospect for some team but there are obviously some major concerns with him going forward.
