Reports have came out this week that the Bengals have met with James Harrison, the ex-Steeler. These meetings came after they met with both Akeem Jordan and Karlos Dansby. With all the meetings they are having, it seems the Bengals would like to upgrade their linebackers this offseason. Many thought they would do that early in the draft but the reports that the Bengals are in talks to sign James Harrison might change that. According to ESPN, the Bengals and Harrison are trying to complete a deal within the week.
"The Cincinnati Bengals and former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison will try to complete a deal this week, a source familiar with situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter."
If the Bengals do in fact sign Harrison, it could affect how the Bengals draft night goes. With all the meetings with linebackers it seems the Bengals don’t think all three of their starters are on the team. Signing Harrison would give them that third starter and potentially lower it down the need list, possibly taking guys like Arthur Brown and Alec Ogletree off of the first round radar. All I know is this will be an interesting event to keep track of this week and throughout the draft.
