Yoga For Manly Men

Before I wrote here at NFLmocks.com I was writing regularly at giantsgab.com, there was another writer there, Andrew Ilnicki who would go on and on about

ga. Well it appears, finally someone has heeded his advice. Von Miller revealed that Jason Pierre Paul gave him some advice.

“I did a lot of yoga-type stuff,” Miller said. “I was down in Miami with Jason Pierre-Paul. That was the advice he gave me. He said it was a long season. I really didn’t do a lot of weight training. I just did yoga with him and hopefully I can have the type of season that he had last year.”

Could you imagine going to that Yoga Class, with 6’6 275 pound Jason Pierre Paul doing yoga? Well, yoga must be doing something right for Pierre Paul. This is nothing new to New York Giants players (and many other teams and players across the N.F.L. as well).  Amani Toomer admitted to practicing yoga, as did Kevin Boss when he was with the New York Giants.

“Boss started practicing yoga when an instructor came to the Giants’ stadium after team meetings. He found that he enjoyed it so much, he started performing yoga every night at home, and he has stuck with it ever since.”

And even Star QB Eli Manning has gotten into the yoga trend.

“Lawrence’s yoga classes are mandatory for Giants rookies, and optional for the vets, though many of them go regularly, including Eli Manning who she calls, “nice, smart, and really flexible.”

In her classes at the Giants Meadowlands facility, Lawrence focuses on teaching poses to help players recover after especially hard-hitting games, and offers yoga assignments for the players to take home and practice all week.

She said she adjusts her routines based on the players who show up— an offensive lineman has different needs and a different body type than an acrobatic, agile wide receiver.”

Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, and Antrel Rolle were also mentioned as players who take yoga with the Giants personal Yoga trainer.
