Andrew Luck has finally returned to the Indianapolis Colts after 5 1/2 weeks absent trying to finish up his degree at Stanford. Luck passed on the 2011 NFL Draft due to his studies, and since he was drafted by the Colts, he had to finish up his degree before he joined the team for good, and that just finished up.
Lucky for the Colts, their prized pick is a fast learner and the missed time hasn’t affected his throwing. According to an ESPN report, Luck is still trying to get on the same page with the rest of his teammates. Luck apparently connected on his first 12 passes and only had one incompletion.
He has the best minicamp stats of any rookie QB I have ever heard of.
In all seriousness, this is good news for the Colts, and Luck is picking up the playbook and getting to work for good, putting his architecture skills to work by trying to rebuild the Colts one day at a time.
When Luck was drafted by the Colts, learning out of a school book wasn’t necessarily his first choice of what he wanted to do.
“I’d wake up and have a serious lack of motivation to go to class, so I’d work out in the mornings, then eat lunch and go to class in the afternoon,” Luck said. “I think I managed to learn the playbook a bit.”
Sometimes, Luck’s modesty is annoying to me, but I give the guy props for being consistent. I think he’ll have some bumps in the road this year, but he’s obviously one of the most NFL-ready players we’ve scouted so he should be in line for a good rookie year, and he finally has that degree from Stanford on the shelf and in the rear-view mirror.
