Next up is the running back position. The RB position in fantasy football has grown significantly less impressive. As the evolution of the league continues and it rises as a “passing league” it’s become harder to find a bevy of productive runningbacks that you can rely on. It’s important to nab a guy and I have another list to help you make your decisions!
Rank | Name | Team | Remarks |
| LeSean McCoy | Phi | I really can’t imagine a better running back with more complete skills |
| Ray Rice | Bal | Greatback who offers PPR bonus |
| Arian Foster | Hou | Should be #1 but that Ben Tate kid can run and he might take a few carries |
| Adrian Peterson | Min | Injury makes him a question but recovery seems like it’s going well |
| Matt Forte | Chi | Contract situation is scary with Bush behind but he’s a dynamic player |
| Jamaal Charles | KC | Be cautious of the situation |
| Chris Johnson | Tenn | Not a huge believer |
| Maurice Jones Drew | Jax | Mojo isn’t slowing down, sorry experts |
| Darren McFadden | Oak | Can he stay healthy? |
| Ryan Matthews | SD | Poised for a huge year but I have to see it first |
| Marshawn Lynch | Sea | As long as he has skittles, he’s one of the best in the league |
| DeMarco Murray | Dal | If he’s healthy he could really earn top 5 mention |
| Jonathan Stewart | Car | Timeshare is questionable |
| Trent Richardson | Cle | Huge potential for a back who could be top 7 by end of the season |
| Ahmad Bradshaw | NYG | He’s gotta step up |
| Mark Ingram | NO | Still hold onto his long term value but he’s trending down |
| Jahvid Best | Det | When he’s not concussed, he’s a versatile game-breaker |
| Reggie Bush | Mia | NFL rushing title clear in his future? |
| Chris Wells | Ari | Careful here. Health and Ryan Williams will be nipping at his heals |
| Frank Gore | SFO | Getting older but still productive. Weird RB group in SF though |
| Darren Sproles | NO | Dangerous, but mostly a PPR threat |
| Roy Helu | Was | Shanny… sigh.. |
| Steven Jackson | StL | |
| Benjarvus Green-Ellis | CIN | Like the situation, could be a huge sleeper. |
| Doug Martin | TB | LOVE…LOVE…LOVE Martin, guy is dynamic and could be a playmaker |
| Ben Tate | Hou | Best backup in the league. |
| C.J. Spiller | Buf | Could be his year to breakout? |
| Shonn Green | NYJ | Losing weight but isn’t the dynamic back fantasy owners were hoping he’d be |
| Fred Jackson | Buf | |
| Reshard Mendenhall | Pit | Injury is a bummer but stashing him will be more than beneficial |
| Daniel Thomas | Mia | |
| Peyton Hillis | KC | |
| James Starks | GB | Taking over as lead back in high octane offense. Some legitmate value here. |
| Donald Brown | Ind | Finally showed enough last year for optimism. RIP “DAMMIT DONALD” |
| Michael Bush | Chi | Opportunity is the only thing stopping him from being a solid back. |
| Michael Turner | Atl | |
| Felix Jones | Dal | |
| DeAngelo Williams | Car | Could trend upwards but he makes nervous |
| Delone Carter | Ind | |
| Pierre Thomas | NO | |
| Willis McGahee | Den | |
| Stevan Ridley | NE | Who knows? |
| Kendall Hunter | SF | High upside |
| Montario Hardesty | Cle
| Legarrette Blount | TB
| Ryan Grant | GB | |
| Issac Redman | Pit | Good back up will produce this year until Mendy is ready to go |
| David Wilson | NYG | Today 48 Tomorrow 15? |
| Isaiah Pead | StL | Is he the heir in StL? I doubt it. But it’ll be fun to see. |
| Knowshon Moreno | Den | |
| Bernard Scott | Cin | |
| Evan Royster | Was | Showed flashes last year as a rook. |
| Mikel Leshoure | Det | |
| Dexter McCluster | KC | |
| Jamie Harper | Tenn | |
| Jacquizz Rogers | Atl | |
| Javon Ringer | Tenn | |
| LaMichael James | SFO | Explosive, good situation. |
| Ryan Williams | Ari | If he gets healthy he trends up significantly |
| Taiwan Jones | Oak | |
| Chris Ivory | NO | |
| Joe McKnight | NYJ | |
| Toby Gerhart | Min | Talented but he backs up AP. Even if he gets early touches still wont be a future back |
| Shane Vareen | NE | |
| Robert Turbin | Sea | |
| Cedric Benson | FA |
