Ryan Tannehill, Reggie Bush, and the gang from South Beach will be featured on HBO’s hit series “Hard Knocks” according to the team. The Dolphins aren’t an overly compelling team, but they do have a quarterback battle, new coaching staff, and they live in what has turned into quite a glamorous sports city, thanks to the Miami Heat and the new Marlins ball park.

Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin says this is a rare opportunity for fans to see what an NFL team goes through on a day to day basis in the offseason and through the rigors of training camp.

“All the decisions that have been made this offseason have had one guiding principle — will it help our players and organization reach its full potential? This one is no different. We are convinced that our affiliation with NFL Films and HBO will allow football fans everywhere an opportunity to comprehend the significant sacrifices and demands that our players endure each day along their journey in training camp as a Miami Dolphin.”

I have never personally followed along with Hard Knocks as it happens on a week by week basis, but when it replays on the NFL Network, I definitely try to tune in because not matter what your passion is for a certain team, it’s interesting to see the in’s and out’s of an NFL franchise, how young players are treated, how coaches talk, how players interact, and so many other features. I think as a fan of the game, it’s fun to watch the show, but I think more people wish their team was the subject of the show than they are willing to admit.

It should be interesting getting to watch the Dolphins’ training camp and pre-season unfold on Hard Knocks, and it will be something that hopefully propels this franchise in the right direction.

The show will premiere on August 7th, and will be followed by four more one-hour long episodes in the following weeks on HBO.
