Pre-Season All-Rookie/Sophomore Fantasy Football Team: Offense
Looking for a team full of the best young players in the NFL? You’ve come to the right place. This post will highlight the best of the best in the NFL with one year of experience or less.
Quarterback: Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
I chose Cam Newton as the quarterback of this fantasy team because I believe he brings the best dual-threat of any of the players, and I think he is going to develop into a very strong pocket passer. Newton has an incredibly strong arm and he helped take one of the NFL’s most pitiful offenses and turn it into a scoring machine. Newton can truly do it all, and I think he’s such a rare breed of player. We could certainly see Andrew Luck on this list right now, but I just love what Newton brings to the table.
Running Back: Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns
Despite what Jim Brown thinks about Trent Richardson, I believe he is an incredible talent who works extremely hard off the field. He has power, speed, is a good receiver out of the backfield, and is a team leader. I think he’s going to be an immediate impact player for the Cleveland Browns.
Wide Receiver: A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals
Do I need to explain this one? Green is one of the best playmakers in the NFL already and he’s only been in one year with a rookie quarterback (who also made the Pro Bowl and was under consideration for this team). Green is only going to get better and he should be considered a top 5 receiver before the year is over.
Wide Receiver: Justin Blackmon, Jacksonville Jaguars
I’m not so sure how Blackmon will fare as a member of the Jaguars, but he has the capability of being an absolute star in the NFL. He is more of a number two receiver, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a really good one. He will be the number one receiver for the Jaguars hopefully for years to come.
Tight End: Coby Fleener, Indianapolis Colts
Fleener has a chance to be a star back in an offense with his old teammate at Stanford. He is a fantastic athlete with great size who can stretch the field and be a huge weapon in the red zone. His skill set reminds me somewhat of the way Tony Scheffler plays. He could be a much better overall player, though.
