NFL News and Notes: Warren Sapp A Judge and Judy
There is no off-season at NFLmocks. We’ll keep you updated with football all year round.
This year we also plan on getting much more into college football team previews and things of that ilk, expanding our Fantasy football coverage, and of course looking forward to the 2013 N.F.L. draft. I’ll try to bring you the interesting news and notes from around the web.
The first thing that stuck out to me is that someone had the interesting idea of hiring Warren Sapp to dole out justice.
“Joining a list of immortals that includes Judge Judy, Judge Wapner and Judge Reinhold, Warren Sapp will now sit behind a big fake judge’s desk and wear a big fake judge’s robe in the middle of the weekday. That’s according to Media Rantz, who uncovered several bits of evidence that “Judge Sapp” is already filming. Perhaps most telling was this call for audience members to sit and be paid to watch Judge Sapp dispense justice.”

Matt Bowen of National Football Post says Kirk Cousins has to take the Redskins drafting him after taking RGIII in the first round like a man.
Bowen harps on to Cousins on how few snap opportunities he’ll have so he should be prepared for that.
“Use the preseason to market your talents: Understand that every team in the NFL looks at these tapes. That’s right. When you take the field in the preseason, you are auditioning for the entire league. As I said above, if all goes as planned in Washington, Griffin isn’t coming off that field, For Cousins, these preseason snaps are vital to his career. Treat them that way. Because it might be the only tape he has for thirty-one other pro personnel department to break down. He plays well this August and the NFL will take notice.”
Matt Waldman, one of my favorites, gives a breakdown of how a player will fit with each. This is part two of the series.
“Jaguars
I like Andre Branch’s potential, but I wonder if the Jaguars made a “need” pick in the second round. He seems like a specialized weapon to rush the passer who needs work against the run – work that might not fix what’s ailing his game in that department. Seems like a high pick for a player that might not play every down.
Jets
I could complain about Stephen Hill as the Jets selection but if you’re going to gamble on future greatness, Hill is one of those picks that fit the bill. The pick I don’t understand is Terrance Ganaway, the Baylor FB/RB. John Connor isn’t going to lose his job to Ganaway and the rookie does not run with the power his size indicates. He plays a scat back game in the Baylor offense. Perhaps he can learn to use his pads better as a down hill runner, but if I’m looking for a power runner and Chris Polk was on the board, I couldn’t think of a better back available that late.”
At least one Bills fan likes the Bills draft a lot. In fact he called it love at first sight.
That should be enough reading material to waste your lunch hour. Enjoy.
