Quick Thoughts: Fourth Round Picks 96-106
By Dan Viens
96: WR Chris Givens to the Rams, another excellent pick for them. Had 2nd round grade on most boards. Average size, good all-around skills. Enough speed to play the outside, excellent route runner. Has overcome two ACL surgeries.
97: What are the Dolphins doing? I don’t get this pick. It’s not that Lamar Miller may need shoulder surgery, it’s that at his best he’s….. Reggie Bush, and they already have one of those. Plus, he can’t block or catch. And they traded up to get him. They need WR’s for that system. And they’ve now ignored the position for 5 picks.
99: C Ben Jones to the Texans. Great value. Second best center in the draft. Could start as a rookie.
10o: Browns select Travis Benjamin, WR, Miami. Small slot receiver, excellent returner. So, he’s Josh Cribbs?
101: Omar Boldin, CB, Arizona State to the Broncos. Solid pick. Physical for his size, experience in the Pac-12 will serve him well.
102: Sucks for Kirk Cousins to be picked by the Redskins. I like him more than most. I think he’s as good as Andy Dalton, and in the right situation can be a good starter. He obviously won’t get the chance there. He could follow the Kevin Kolb/Matt Flynn career path and be someone else’s starter in 3-4 years.
103: Frank Alexander, DE, Oklahoma to Carolina. Slipped this far because he doesn’t have that elite get-off, but he’s a really solid player who at worst can be a regular contributor in the Panthers DL rotation.
104: Panthers again. Joe Adams, WR, Arkansas. One of my favorite WR’s in this draft. Could be an outstanding slot guy and will add a dynamic element to their return game immediately.
106: Robert Turbin, RB, to the Seahawks. This is a great pick for Seattle. He’s a BEAST. Very physical, reads the hole, has enough speed to make a few long runs. Perfect fit for the Hawks zone system, and a similar style to Lynch.
