Pittsburgh Steelers Get their Nose Tackle with Alameda Ta’amu Washington Huskies

Nov 26, 2011; Seattle, WA, USA; Washington State Cougars running back Rickey Galvin (5) runs with the ball as Washington Huskies defensive tackle Alameda Ta'amu USpresswire

The Pittsburgh Steelers finally get a nose tackler with the selection of Alameda Ta’amu out of Washington. The Steelers are getting very, very talented players this year who come with motor issues. Decastro was a terrific pick, but Mike Adams and Ta’amu are among the most physically gifted players in this draft, but have questions about their motors. Mike Adams also had the failed drug test.

Ta’amu can penetrate the gap, as well as hold up as a nose tackle. I thought his best fit was as a nose tackle, but the Steelers know a little bit about player evaluation so I’ll trust their evaluation here.

Live Draft Grade: A-

Definitely worth the risk here even though they had to trade up go get him.
