Top Five Remaining WR-When will Alshon Jefferey Come off the Board
I’ll be doing previews of the top five remaining players at every position throughout the day so you can get a feel for what might be available in the 2nd and third rounds. For scouting reports of every one of these players check out our scouting report page.
These are Sayre’s best remaining WR prospects, but they are not too dissimilar from my own.
Wide Receivers drafted so far:
Justin Blackmon (7th-Jaguars)
Michael Floyd (13th-Cardinals)
Kendall Wright (20th Titans)
Best Wide receivers available
1. Alshon Jefferey, WR, South Carolina
Jeffereys’ fall from grace is well documented this off-season. Jefferey is a big bodied WR who was over-weight in the 2011 college football campaign. Jeffery has the most potential of any WR left in the draft, but there are questions about his ability to separate at the N.F.L. level.
2. Rueben Randle, WR, LSU
Another high-upside WR that comes with some concerns about his work ethic off the field. Randle was held back by his quarterback play, like Jeffery, but he’s N.F.L. ready immediately. Randle is a big play threat who has a good size speed combination and a lot of physical ability.
3. Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
Givens is lightning quick and fast. A guy who can really create after the catch. There are also questions surrounding Givens about how great of a locker room presence he’ll be. Givens also might be too small to play on the outside consistently.
4. Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers
The ultimate possession WR in the draft. Sanu reminds some people of Hakeem Nicks, but he’s not as good as creating yards after the catch Nicks is. Sanu could be a terrific slot wr of possession WR on the outside.
5. Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma
Broyles suffered a season ending injury, or he might have been a lock for the second round. A little bit reminiscent of Steve Smith coming out of USC (that’s former NY Giants Smith). Broyles gets by on intelligence, guild, and glue for hands. Broyles will be an instant contributor to whatever team he goes to provided he’s healthy to start the season.
Other names to watch:
Marvin Jones, Cal.
T.Y. Hilton, Florida International
Brian Quick Appalachian State
Marvin McNutt, Iowa
