With the 53rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have selected Devon Still, DT, Penn State
Here is our report on Still:
Pros:
Should be adapt at playing both 4-3 and 3-4 in time
Great inside penetrator
Flashes quick first step
Able to defeat Double Teams
Had a good game versus Alabama’s OL
Good technique
Strong, can hold up OL
Cons:
Does not finish many of his rushes
His height makes him susceptible to chip blocks
Hasn’t put together a really good season until this year
Player Comparison: Ziggy Hood
Round Projection: First round prospect
Summary:
Penn State’s defense is an under-rated unit, Devon Still is a big reason for their success . He has been a key contributor for three years for the Nittany Lions. He has played well in key games against the Spartans and the Crimson Tide. I think his playing style and body make up will have him targeted by 3-4 teams to play the 5 technique. I compare him to Ziggy Hood due to their similar size, playing style, and non-stop motor.
Pick Grade: B+
The Bengals didn’t have a desperate need at defensive tackle, but they get a great value here in the Big 10 Defensive Player of the year. Adding him to Dre’ Kirkpatrick and Kevin Zeitler is a solid draft so far for Cincy.
