Bold Predictions: Chandler Jones Could Be a Tennessee Titan, Cordy Glenn to Bills
Every year in the draft there are picks that shock everyone and make fans go huh? There will undoubtedly be some of those picks again this year, but I’ve done my best to highlight some of the possibilities in my mock drafts which are usually much different than the majority out there.
Today is the draft, and I’m going to give you four more picks that seem crazy, but might be entirely possible.
The first is Cordy Glenn to the Bills.
I believe the Bills refer Cordy Glenn to all of the other tackles not named Matt Kalil in this draft. I, think with how quick the Bills passing attack works the Bills believe Glenn can play an effective LT and be a mauler in the run game. I also am failry confident that the Bills won’t draft him at 10 because they know his value around the league, but that will look to move down and draft him then. If they can move down I think it’s very likely Glenn ends up a Buffalo Bill.
If they can’t move down I think the pick could be any number of players, but these are two of my favorites for the pick: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina. The Bills are aware that McKelvin will be a free agent, Drayton Flornece struggled last year, and Mcgee cant stay healthy. They have Aaron Williams ready to step in and play, but I think they really like Gilmore and will consider him if he’s available at 10. I think a second option is Michael Floyd the WR out of Norte Dame, but Buddy Nix has hammered on how deep this WR class is and the need to add speed at the position. I think they’ll strongly consider a player like T.Y. Hilton in the third round and go away from Floyd in the first.
Another interesting pick I think can happen is with the Eagles.
The Eagles would love to have Fletcher Cox (and might move up to make sure it happens), but if he’s not available the Eagles could strongly consider Mark Barron if he gets past the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles have spent two second round picks on safeties the last two years, but Jarrett was a major reach. The Eagles might have realized that and could strongly consider the terrific Barron at 15. The problem is seeing if he gets past the Cowboys.
Chandler Jones to Tennessee is becoming a pick in my mind I’m liking more and more everyday.
The reason I think Jones to Tennessee makes sense is because the Titans were very drawn to Jason Pierre Paul and were hoping that he would get past the New York Giants at 15th. I think they also liked Derrick Morgan, so they were not concerned about moving ahead of the Giants, Jones has some similar traits to Jason Pierre Paul, and the Titans really need a defensive end. Based on what the Titans needs are and what value will be available–I cant imagine them going somewhere other than DE like Nick Perry, Chandler Jones, Whitney Mercilus or CB Dre Kirkpatrick. The other option I could potentially see is a WR if they really love Rueben Randle or Stephen Hill or something, but gut feeling is they like Chander Jones.
The New England Patriots and Lavonte David
People love David, they just wish he was a little bigger and a better tackler. The Patriots are desperate for a WILL LB who can run and cover and they don’t come any better than David. The only issue I have with predicting this pick is I don’t think that the Patriots will keep both of their first round picks and I can’t see them not adding a pass rusher or cornerback with the pick they do keep. If they do keep both, watch out for David to the Patriots–and now it’s not a big reach. David is projected to be off the board by the 42nd pick generally speaking–the Patriots are picking 31st–not really a reach.
