Alshon Jeffery Impresses at Pro Day Athletically
If you watch tape of Alshon Jeffery, one thing people will note is that he doesn’t lack game speed, but many–including USC head coach Steve Spurrier at one point–thought he had poor timed speed.
Those rumors were put to rest at the South Carolina Pro Day (attended by all 32 NFL teams) as Jeffery checked in at 6’3″ 213 pounds and ran–unofficially–a 4.47 second 40 yard dash. In addition, Jeffery had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump, and a 10-foot, two inch broad jump. Both of those numbers were better than the average from the Combine.
Other Important Pro Day Notes
Former Coastal Carolina cornerback Josh Norman had a huge week at the Shrine game earlier this offseason, and reportedly ran a 4.57 on wet field conditions at the Coastal Carolina Pro Day. That number is an improvement over his disappointing time at the Scouting Combine, and the workout was attended by quite a few NFL teams.
Southern Miss defensive end Cordarro Law (who interviewed with NFLMocks.com) had a very solid showing at his pro day. Law ran a 4.74 second 40 yard dash, and threw up 23 reps on the bench press. At 6’2″ 257 pounds, this guy looks like he could be a very nice later round steal for a team looking for a hard worker and productive collegiate defensive end.
Arkansas State linebacker DeMario Davis built off of his awesome performance at the Combine, running a personal best 4.46 in the 40 yard dash at his pro day. At 6’2″ 235 pounds, Davis is getting looks from a lot of teams and could go as high as the mid second round.
