NFL Mocks Looking for Paid Writer
For the first time ever NFLMocks is looking to add a paid writer. Now the paid position is not going to sustain a lavish life-style we’re bloggers here, but we’re offering up $50 dollars (of my and Sayre’s own money) for someone who wants to write seriously for the site. This potential position requires that you post four to five times a week.
We’re also looking for writers who are interested in less of a time commitment and just want a platform to get their thoughts out once or twice a week (these positions are unpaid).
If you love the draft and are looking for an audience to be subjected to your thoughts and opinions this is a wonderful opportunity. If you’re also looking to get somewhere this might be a nice stepping stone. People who have written for NFLmocks have become editors at different Fansided pages (all editors are paid a percentage of money they get from the traffic they get at the site), or moved onto other paying writing jobs on the web as well. Blogging about the draft is a lot of work and doesn’t offer a lot of pay. I spend so much of my free-time chatting draft, watching prospects, reviewing draft history and NFL rosters that it’s really a sickness. It is not worth the money you’re getting paid-I do it because it’s truly what I love. If that sounds like you-this could be a great opportunity for you. If you’re just interested in the 50 dollars a month, you’ll can still throw your hat in the ring, but I don’t think you’ll enjoy it enough to last.
We’re doing this because we want to provide our readers with the most comprehensive draft coverage there is, but there is so much information it’s difficult to do that with out a lot of help or being paid to do so full time (which I’m not).
This position starts at $50 dollars a month for the time being, but has a chance to become more if our traffic continues the steady ascension that it has since Sayre and I took over the site last February. Especially if we feel you’re responsible, because of your quality work and loyal following to a direct increase of traffic. We’ll pay more.
This is really targeting someone who is already currently writing about the draft (perhaps for their own website) near-daily, but isn’t getting paid. Now you have the opportunity to be paid.
If you’re interested in what we’re looking for (we as in Sayre and I) is someone who will be committed year-round (we don’t stop writing even during the summer), someone who will over insight and analysis and writes with some coherency. This is not the NY Times, but some professionalism is nice.
It doesn’t matter what your favorite team is, or which area of the country you like to focus on–we’re just looking for thoughtful and professional posts about the NFL Draft in particular, but the NFL as well.
Email me at bartolisj@gmail.com if you’re interested. I’ll eventually be asking for a writing sample so you should include one of those, or a link to your work as well.
Thanks,
Jesse
