Alshon Jeffery Impressive in Weigh-In, Griffin Over 6’2 All Measurment results

facebooktwitterreddit

A draftnik joke over the last month has been to list Alshon Jeffery as at TE or even an Offensive linemen with the rumors that he was balloning up. Well that can officially be put to rest. In today’s weigh-in Jefffery was 6’3 and 216 pounds. He admitted to playing the season around 230, but now could show the explosiveness people thought he had heading into this season. Jeffery also has 10 1/4 inch hands and was 6’3. Good start for Jeffery, especially if he can show he still maintained his strength with the weight loss.

Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III measured in over 6’2” which is great for him. Speculation was that Griffin might be under 6’2. There’s one obstacle down, though I doubt it effects his draft stock much.

The biggest hands at the combine belong to Arizona WR Juron Criner. Criner measured in at 6’3” 224 pounds with 10.5 inch hands (absolutely massive).

Surprisingly 6’4 inch Penn State WR Derek Moye had 8 1/4 hands. That’s very small hands for such a tall guy.

Baylor WR Kendall Wright was just over 5’10” which is good for him. WR drafted under 6′ are rarely drafted in the first round if Wright was under 5’10 it could have put that into question. He weighed 196 pounds, but has smaller hands at 8 5/8.

From walterfootball.com

North Carolina wide receiver Dwight Jones (6-3, 230) was the heaviest wide receiver at the Combine, weighing in four pounds heavier than a month ago. Jones had a disappointing Senior Bowl, so he needs to have a strong performance on the field Sunday. If he runs well, his weight won’t be a problem, but if he has a slow 40 time, he could slide into the third day of the 2012 NFL Draft.

And

The second-shortest wideout was Alabama’s Marquis Maze at 5-foot-8, 186-pounds. He was just a tad smaller than Fresno State’s Devon Wylie (5-9, 187). Both edge out Oregon State’s James Rodgers (5-7, 184). Maze will probably be looked at more for special teams than as a contributor on offense. Wylie has a big history with injuries, so his physical was very important for him to show those injuries are healed.

Quarterback Notes:

One of our favorite prospects, Russell Wilson, had a great measurment day. Wilson checked in at 5’11 (still short), but weighed 204 pounds, perhaps most importantly is that his hands are huge. Wilson has 10 1/4 hands, so gripping a football shouldn’t be a problem. Couldn’t have gone better for Wilson.

Andrew Luck is 6’4 234 pounds. He’s a prototype. Nothing else you can really say about that.

Nick Foles is 6’5 243 pounds and has 10 5/8 hands, the largest hands of any quarterbakc.

Brock Osweiler was actually shorter than listed height of 6’8 and 6’7, and had 9 7/8 hands.

The second shortest quarterback at the combine is Kellen Moore he is 6′ even and his hands are 9  1/2 he also weighed in under 200 pounds, the only quarterback to do so. Right now we don’t have a draftable grade on Moore. He’s not changing our opinions yet.

Running back information:

LaMichael James mesaured in at 5’8 and 194 pounds, which isn’t very big. But no one expected him to be bit. I thought he was a bit taller though.

Chris Rainey was even smaller. Rainey measured in 5’8 and 180 pounds.

Tauren Poole had the smallest hands at 8 flat. Teams will wonder if he’ll have fumbling problems.

After what some called a disappointing Senior Bowl (well most) Chris Polk dropped some weight and now measures in at 5’11 and 215 pounds. He needs a good combine.

USC Running back Rhett Ellison is a monster, he measured in at 6’5 251 pounds. He’s the size of Dwayne Allen. Which makes sense. He was  TE then converted to Full back because of injuries. He’s a Tight End

Terrance Ganaway was 6’0 239 pounds. The faster he runs the 40 the less he’ll hear about moving to fullback.
