New Orleans Saints Off Season To Do List: Tough Off Season Decisions on Remaining Free Agents

New Orleans Saints off Season Check List
2011 Outcome (13-3)
So close. The Saints made a tremendous come back against the 49ers despite 5 turnovers. They took the lead with less than 2 minutes to go in the game. All the Saints had to do was stop the 49ers or hold them to a game tying field goal. They failed on both accounts. The Saints had a great season and now have a tough off season in front of them with so many up and coming free agents and only so much money.
Coach Seat Temperature
Sean Peyton is an elite coach. He has done wonders with the offense and has worked beautifully with GM Loomis and QB Drew Brees. Sean Peyton is the perfect coach for this team. OC Pete Carmichaels Jr. does a solid job but basically does not do much with Peyton as HC and Brees as QB. DC Gregg Williams left to help out Fischer inSt. Louis. Gregg Williams did a good job with the Saints on defense and will be missed. Though the Saints did a great job replacing him with Steve Spagnuolu.
2011 Draft Class Rating (C-)
Saints did not have a lot of selection do to their large trade up to snag RB Mark Ingram. First Round selections Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram did not have great seasons. They are far from busts since good teams do not need a ton from rookies but both need to step it up in year 2. Martez Wilson played sparingly and will need to do more film work to see more playing time. The rest did little.
2010 Draft Class Rating (C)
CB Patrick Robinson improved on his rookie season but still has a long way to go. He gets picked on and destroyed by physical Wide Receivers. OT Charles Brown has had 2 years to beef up and learn the system. He should be vying for a starting spot next season. Jimmy Graham is one of the NFL’s best Tight Ends in only his second season. He is a monster in all phases of the game and will only get better.
2009 Draft Class Rating (D)
Malcolm Jenkins is inconsistent but is a solid FS. He is very physical and needs to play the deep pass better to become a Pro Bowl level FS. Thomas Morstead is a monster in kick offs. The rest of the class is no longer here.
Current Needs
Offense: WR, OL
Defense: DE, DT, OLB
Current FA
Drew Brees: Brees will be franchised and than signed to a monster deal. No way he leavesNew Orleans.
Marques Colstone: Colstone has already admitted he will give no discounts toNew Orleans. He wants to get paid. He has earned it butNew Orleans might not have the money he is looking for.
Robert Meachem: Meachem is not a consistent threat but he is a speed freak who can make 1-2 big plays a game. He might want more opportunity and if the Saints bring back Colstone Meachem is as good as gone.
Carl Nicks: Carl Nicks might be the NFL’s best OG but the Saints already paid Jahari Evans big money and cannot afford to pay both Offensive Guards big money. With Brees probably getting the Franchise Nicks is a threat to leave. Saints need to find a way to bring him back.
Shaun Rogers: Shaun Rogers was solid in run downs this season. He is no longer a pass rushing threat. Saints could bring him back cheap.
Tracey Porter: Porter is always injured but when healthy he can be a big play threat. He is a tad inconsistent but is still young. Porter is low in priority and will probably depart.
Current Mock
2. Jake Bequette DE Arkansas
3. Ryan Miller OG Colorado
4. Sean Spence OLB Miami
