San Diego Chargers Off Season To Do List: Win or go home Norv

San Diego Chargers off Season Check List
2011 Outcome (8-8)
How does Norv Turner keep his job year in and year out? Chargers always start slow, end slow and under perform? I mean I wish I worked for the Chargers organization where accountability is not needed. As a lifelong Lions fan I understand the fans plight with keeping a bad General Manager and Head Coach for way too long. Cut ties and move onSan Diego. Rivers is an elite QB but the talent around him is slowly eroding each season.
Coach Seat Temperature
I fully expect another slow start to be the end of Norv Turner. I would predict him to be an in-season firing if the playoffs are not secured. Norv is on a very hot seat. OC Shellman and DC Manusky look to be retained. Chargers should have promoted Rivera and Chudzinki to HC and OC….insteadCarolinadid and is very grateful for them both.
2011 Draft Class Rating (C-)
A typical AJ Smith draft that is filled with only adequate players mixed in with reaches. Corey Liuget is a solid player that doesn’t fit the 3-4 scheme that well. Jonas Mouton was a monumental reach that reminds me of Jordan Dizon and the Lions…I mean when they took him people where like who??? Marcus Gilchrist appears to be a solid player. Vincent Brown has potential as a slot WR. The rest are future cuts.
2010 Draft Class Rating (C+)
Ryan Matthews and Donald Butler are solid starters who need to stay healthy. Cam Thomas has skill but needs to become more consistent. The rest of this class is or will soon be cut.
2009 Draft Class Rating (F)
Larry English appears to be a bust. Louis Vazquez is okay but injury prone. The rest of this class was filled with reaches and would make Matt Millen proud.
Current Needs
Offense: RB, WR, TE, OL
Defense: DL, NT, OLB, ILB, CB, SS
Current FA
Michael Tolbert: Tolbert is a solid backup RB who excels in short yardage situation and is a threat as a receiver as well. Chargers should try to bring him back but not overspend.
Vincent Jackson: Jackson has never had more than 68 receptions but is a deep threat who can take a game over. Chargers need to bring him back or risk alienating Rivers.
Nick Hardwick: Injury prone Center who when healthy is one of the best in the game. Chargers need to keep him.
Jared Gaither: Showed when healthy he is one of the top Left Tackle’s in the game. Problem is back problems rarely go away.
Antonio Garay: Solid pass rushing NT who has little left in the gas. Might be time to part ways.
Current Mock
1. Michael Floyd WR ND
2. Dwayne Allen TE Clemson
3. Chase Thomas OLB Stanford
4. Matt Reynolds OT BYU
