The Bowl season has come and gone and there were a lot of players who had big time performances, let’s have a final recap bowl season of stock up.
Let’s start with the most recent the title game:
Alabama DL Nick Gentry
Heading into the Bowl game Gentry was a completely forgotten man who at best might have gotten a training camp invite. Now it looks like he could have worked himself into the day three conversation. He showed an impressive first step and played with good leverage. I think he might get drafted in round 6 or 7 now, and at the is almost guaranteed some training camp invites off that impressive bowl performance.
Alabama CB Dre Kirkpatrick
People have been up and down on Kirkpatrick all season, but he’s solidified his top 15 grade for me in this game. He has ideal length, speed. He was a demon on special teams and completely shut down Rueben Randle (even if that was in large part because of Quarterback play). Kirkpatrick is the kind of big physical cb who can match up with the big physical wide receivers of today’s N.F.L.
Barkevious Mingo, DL, LSU
Was he blocked at all? D.J. Fluker is a well regarded prospect, but he got abused by Mingo’s speed during the game. Mingo, if he enters the draft, has an excellent chance of being drafted in the first round with how few quality 34 OLB prospects there are available.
Terrance Ganaway, RB, Baylor Bears
Sayre Bedinger says:
Terrance Ganaway had probably the biggest bowl game of any player offensively that I have seen in quite some time, and if he wasn’t out-done by the quarterback on the other team, he might just have been the MVP of the entire bowl season. Ganaway rushed for 200 yards on 21 carries with five–count ’em–FIVE touchdowns on the ground. Ganaway reminded me a lot of Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeGarrette Blount this season, but I think Ganaway is more talented. His stock is definitely UP in my mind
Here’s what Reggie said
Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia: Displayed pure play making potential in the MSU game
Levy Adcock: Has a place somewhere on the OL…did a good job blocking for Weeden versus Stanford
Melvin Ingram: Just dominated the Nebraska OL…has top 16 potential
Lavonte David: His 2 sack 10 plus tackle performance cemented his 2nd round status
Justin Blackmon: Just beastly against a solid defense…top 10 status secured
Jonathan Martin: Cut down on mental mistakes and showed top 10 potential
ALshon Jeffrey: Dominated Dennard….where was this all season long?
Whitney Mercilus: Week in and week out this guy performs
Jordan White: Had video game like numbers vs a better team
Zebrie Sanders: Dominated his competition vs ND….LT is a possibility in the NFL
Courtney Upshaw: Was under rated all season long and now is the #1 Rush OLB
Phillip Blake: Dominated Alemeda Ta’Amu physically
Jake BeQuette: Now that he is healthy he might have secured a 2nd Round Grade
Peter Konz: Wisconsin ran behind him all day long
Casey Hayward: Big play CB who is solid vs the run as well
Jerel Worthy: Had his way with a veteran Georgia OL
Donta Hightower: Was a monster in the middle vs LSU
Stock Down
Quinton Coples: Lowered to the second half of the 1st Round
Alemeda Ta’Amu: Baylor ran right over him
Marvin McNutt: Might not have the speed to be a #1 NFL WR
Alfonzo Dennard: Showed his lack of size vs Jeffrey.
Ben Jones: Worthy ran right over him
Michael Brewster: Another disappointing start vs an athletic Florida DL
BJ Cunningham: Lack of playing speed limits him
