Tampa Bay Buccaneers off Season Check List
2011 Outcome (4-12)
The Buccaneers were on my radar for most over rated team going into this season. Their roster was filled with holes and an easy schedule the season before made people think this was a playoff caliber team. Now, no one foresaw 4 wins but a reasonable drop off should have been expected. A lack of speed killed this team on offense and defense as well as a lack of quality veterans
Coach Seat Temperature
Rasheem Morris was let go and should be after this kind of let down. I think young coaches should not be coordinators as well. His tenure started off weirdly when he was hired to be the DC and than took the HC spot as well. It will be interesting to see who the Buccaneers bring in. It would be wise for a veteran coaching staff to be put in place with all the inexperience in the Buccaneer organization.
2011 Draft Class Rating (B)
This class has talent in it and over time should go a ways to improving the defense. Adrian Clayborn was a monster this season and should only get better. Bowers showed brief moments of talent and as he gets healthier he could be a big time steal. Mason Foster regressed as the season went on but is skilled enough to be a starter at MLB or OLB. The rest of this class brings solid depth and special team play.
2010 Draft Class Rating (B)
If injuries do not ruin this class it will be considered a success. Gerald McCoy when healthy makes the defense much stronger. He is a solid inside presence. Brian Price is an okay player but could be relegated to a rotational player. Arrelious Benn andMikeWilliams are talented Wide Receivers but lack speed. Rest of this class is filled with solid depth players.
2009 Draft Class Rating (C)
This draft class brought in a solid starting QB in Freeman and little else. Roy Miller is a mediocre backup DT. Everyone else is on the chopping block if they haven’t been cut already.
