Purdue Boilmakers vs Western Michigan Broncos NFL Draft Watch

Tonight when the Purdue Boilmakers take on the Western Michigan Broncos each team will feature a really nice N.F.L. Draft prospect.

Earlier today on ESPN Todd McShay highlighted that player for Wester Michigan comparing him to a  young Miles Austin. That player is Jordan White (scouting report).

USA Today wrote about how productive White has been:

And White nearly took home college football’s triple crown of receiving in the regular season, leading the country with 10.6 receptions and 137.17 yards per game. His 16 touchdowns tied for second. Last season, he broke a school record with 1,378 yards. This season, he shattered it with 1,646.

White is one of those players who just knows how to get open. He uses good quickness to get off the ball and into his route, which is also due to his experience as a redshirt senior.

For Purdue it’s about DT Kawann Short (Scouting report)

Short is a guy who is 6’3 310 pounds and a really solid athlete for a big name. Short’s problem has been consistency. He has games where he absolutely dominates and then other times he disappears. You would think because of his size that he’s a hold up the line kind of guy, but he really excels at shooting the gap and making plays in the backfield more than he does at anchoring at the point of attack.

White projects as an early day three pick, while Short could be drafted late round two or sometime in round three, especially because he offers some pass rush potential.

The QB for Western Michigan, Alex Carder is 6’2 224 pounds and has thrown 58 touchdowns and only 22 interceptions the past two seasons. Another strong season next year and maybe a team considers him a developmental quarterback prospect.

OL Dann O’neill is a potential day three pick or UDFA camp invite.

If I can’t get to a Louisville and NC State draft watch. The two names to pay attention to in that game are LB Audie Cole for North Carolina State, and Josh Chichester the TE out of Lousville. Chichester is huge and slender
