Green Bay Packers Wish List
It’s Christmas and Green Bay Packers fans will get a chance to see the Packers play tonight against their old rival, the Chicago Bears. With it being Christmas I thought I’d give Santa Claus a wish list.
Dear Santa for Christmas, the Green Bay Packers would like:
1. Get Healthy
The Green Bay Packers are banged up right now. The Packers have nine players on their injury report right now.
It all starts with their offensive line is dealing with injuries and playing hurt. Last week, 2010 first round draft pick and OT Derrek Sherrod injured his knee and his out for the season. OT Bryan Bulaga is out this week again with a knee injury, and Chad Clifton is out again with a hamstring and back injury.
The health of the offensive line will be key for the Packers as the playoffs start soon.
Greg Jennings is out again after spraining his MCL two weeks ago, and will miss the rest of the season, but will hopefully be back for the playoffs. Jennings is a big target for Aaron Rodgers and will be counted on down the stretch.
The running game got a big relief as James Starks and Brandon Saine will be back. Last week, only Ryan Grant and John Kuhn were available and Green Bay only got 12 carries and 66 yards form Grant. They had 100 total yards on the ground.
On defense, the Packers got banged up early in the season, losing Nick Collins, and had some injuries to their linebackers and defensive line. Now, A.J. Hawk, and Desmond Bishop are back. This week, they will miss Ryan Pickett, and Mike Neal is questionable.
Health will be a big factor as the Packers start their playoff success soon.
2. Catch Aaron Rodgers passes.
The Packers wide receivers have had a case of the dropsies lately. Their dropped passes have been momentum killers the last few weeks.
Green Bay had six dropped passes last week.
Rodgers had his worst week last week, going 17 for 35 and 235 yards.
3. Play some defense.
The Green Bay Packers defense gets takeaways. Its 23 interceptions, and plus 20 turnover ratio tell you that. However, they give up a lot of yards.
Could that be their biggest downfall and affect them down the stretch in the playoffs?
The Packers are 31st in passing defense giving up 289 yards per game. However, New England is worse, and they are just as good as the Packers.
4. For Aaron Rodgers to rebound.
Last week, Aaron Rodgers had a untypical week. He went 17 for 35 for 235 yards, only completed 48.6% of his passes, and had just two touchdowns. One rushing and one passing.
His receivers didn’t help him out, but he also had some passes off target. This week against a struggling Chicago Bears is the perfect opportunity for him to get back on track.
5. Continue drafting well.
The Packers draft really good. That is one reason they are the defending Super Bowl champions, and a team that will be good for a while.
Ted Thompson can find gems early and late in the draft. He often takes the best available player, and should continue to do so.
The Packers draft needs are CB, OT, LB, and DE.
Remember, to cheer on the Green and Gold this Christmas Day night.
