Scouting Report
It’s pretty rare that you find a kid who started four years in college and has the kind of size that Gipson has at the cornerback position and he goes almost completely unnoticed. His skills won’t be fully on display in the team’s bowl game against the run-oriented offense in Temple, but he’s being pretty unfairly overlooked a lot like a guy named Chris Harris was last year coming out of Kansas, a guy who went to the Denver Broncos and has made a significant impact on the team’s defense and special teams. Gipson has 238 career tackles with nine interceptions, and anytime you have a guy who has been a four-year starter, you need to go back and re-evaluate the tape. This is the type of guy that I expect to get signed as an undrafted free agent or maybe even be picked up late if he runs well this offseason and just make an impact on a team because he has been a four-year starter and helped Wyoming get back to relevancy. He may not be a starter in the NFL and he may not play in the league for a decade, but I think he is the type of kid who can come in and make an impact, and I can’t wait to see how he does against Temple to see his game speed and how instinctive he is.
