What Would Happen If the BCS Match ups Were Fixed?

I speculated what would happen a few weeks ago on what would happen if the BCS was fixed.  As soon as Oregon missed the field goal I speculated that Oklahoma would tie the game and win it in overtime and that Oklahoma State would beat Oklahoma setting up an Alabama VS LSU title game.  Oklahoma ended up losing, but with wins against Baylor and Oklahoma State they may have jumped Alabama to #2 so maybe I’m not so crazy.

Next week is filled with Conference Championships so I will project what would happen in the 5 BCS Bowl games if the BCS had shady officials with the ability to manipulate the outcome of games with BCS implications.  This will examine what would happen if all of the BCS Bowl match ups were fixed.  In order to determine if a sport was fixed you have to put yourselves in the shoes of a CEO and determine first hand what the main boss would do behind the scenes of the Big Show.

Vizio Rose Bowl Wisconsin VS UCLA

The Rose Bowl is played in Pasedena.  In fact, the Rose Bowl is home of the UCLA Bruins.  I think Wisconsin evens the score with Michigan State.  As far as the PAC 12 Title from a marketing standpoint, more people will show up if UCLA wins and everyone is writing off the Bruins.  UCLA just lost to USC 50 to 0.  The BCS needs a major upset to occur so their bowl match ups don’t appear so fixed on paper.  Nobody in their right mind will pick UCLA on the road against Oregon in Eugene, OR.  Oregon has won the this conference for 2 straight seasons under Chip Kelly.  No one will pick UCLA.  The Bruins could miss out on a bowl game with a loss because of a sub .500 record.  UCLA is playing for a BCS bowl or potentially no bowl and that could be a huge motivator.  This game could be a major payday for Vegas if UCLA wins the PAC 12 Title Game.

Tostios Fiesta Bowl Oklahoma VS Stanford

If Matt Barkley and Robert Griffin III both return to school then Landry Jones will be considered by many as the top NFL quarterback after Andrew Luck.  A bowl game with Landry Jones VS Andrew Luck would appeal to many.  Oklahoma State is the only threat to the 2 SEC teams in the BCS Title race.  If the officials were fixing games they would put Oklahoma here because they would make more money.

Allstate Sugar Bowl Oklahoma State VS Houston

I feel like a 2 loss Oklahoma State team gets this final spot against Houston.  Houston played Oklahoma State in a offensive shootout a few years ago in a game where Case Keenum played.  This game will have much higher stakes.

Discover Orange Bowl Virginia Tech VS West Virginia

I believe were going to end up seeing Virginia Tech win if Oklahoma State loses.  The cover up really makes you eliminate all skepticism about the late season BCS games being fixed.  West Virginia has the most talent among the Big East teams so this would be a great BCS match up that would generate tons of revenue.

BCS Championship Game Alabama VS LSU

I feel like the BCS suites will sell their soul to see this match up.   This is the match up that were going to end up seeing at the end of the day.

I will reveal my winners for these Bowl Games next week.  I doubt I correctly have all 10 teams on this list next week.  If I do its just all the proof you need when it comes to making a case that the BCS is nothing but a corporate sham compared to a playoff in College Football.
