Fantasy Football Start and Sit Week 12: C.J. Spiller’s Chance to shine

facebooktwitterreddit

Well I missed out on the first three games of this week and being busy on Thursday I didn’t get a chance to set my lineup and put in Laurent Robinson and it might cost me this week.

I’m not going to get crazy with it, but here are some players I like week and some others I don’t.

Start:

Quarterback:

Tim Tebow, Denver

This is a huge game for the Chargers and while they are ranked highly vs the pass in terms of yards per game, anyone who has watched the Broncos knows that their secondary is struggling. They got light up by the Jets woeful passing game, the Raiders passing game, and everyone else recently (and have given up more passing touchdowns than anyone else in the league-19) Tebow should be able to get his fair share amount of points and could rush for a touchdown or two.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta

I think Ryan a lot this week. The Vikings have given up 19 passing touchdowns this season and the Falcons have some weapons who can make the Vikings pay. I don’t think Ryan is a must start every week, but I like him a lot this week.

Running back:

Brandon Jacobs, NY Giants

I realize Jacobs has been borderline awful all season, as has the entire Giants running game, but on Monday night the Giants will have David Diehl and Kevin Boothe in at LT and LG because of the season ending surgery to Will Beatty. Boothe and Diehl are better run blockers than pass blockers and I really expect the Giants to come out and try to run the ball with vigor and I think they will do a good job. I also expect their to be a lot of points and Jacobs could end up with a touchdown or two. Start Jacobs with conviction! Well, not conviction, more if you must.

C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills

I’m leery of this one actually, but Spiller has the kind of speed that can give the Jets problems especially as a receiver. The jets linebackers can’t cover anybody, so I could see Spiller breaking one long screen pass. I don’t love him this week, but I think he could be a solid flex option.

Shonne Green

The Bills run defense was absolutely awful last year, this year it’s just awful, especially since Kyle Williams got hurt. The Bills are banged up on defense and will be playing  lot of rookies. Ladanian Tomlinson is beat up and Joe Mcknight fumbles too much. Green should be in line for a lot of carries. Start him with confidence.

DeAngelo Williams, carolina

Williams hasn’t been getting enough carries this  year, but if the Panthers are smart they should feed Williams and Stewart and run the ball all over the Colts like everyone else does. The colts are a defeated team who aren’t going to want to win a dog-fight. We’ll see if the Panthers do make better use of their run game then they have all season, I think they will

Wide Receiver:

DeSean Jackson, WR, Eagles

Jackson is coming off a big game vs the Giants (could have been even bigger if not for a  fluky offensive penalty that negated his 50ish yard reception and taunt) and Vince young is out. The Patriots are also missing key players in their secondary on Sunday and Jackson could be running free, I can’t promise you VY will get him the ball, but he should be open!

Defense:

Arizona Cardinals

The Rams can’t score points and Patrick Peterson is always an option to take it to the house. I like the Cardinals defense this week vs the pitiful Rams offense.

Sit

Quarterback:

Ryan Fitzpatrick-the Bills are down to the bare minimum at WR and Fitzpatrick has been struggling lately as it is.

Carson Palmer-Palmer is a bit prone to turnovers as it is so I don’t see that improving in any way when he’s facing the Bears who do an excellent job of turning people over. The Bears defense has really been good the past month and I’d go elsewhere if you could.

Running back:

Whoever is running for the Browns on Sunday.

Montario hardesty of Peyton Hills. I don’t like either. It’s hard to run on the Bengals and unlike the Steelers who got Mendenhall some close scoring opportunities, the Browns can’t move the ball down the field enough to give their running backs short touchdown run opportunities.

Roy Helu, Washington

Starting a Shanahan back is always risky, but it’s even worse when you have to travel across the country to face a better than advertised Seattle Seahawks run defense. The Seahawks do a good job of stopping the run and I don’t expect Helu to have a big game.

Wide receiver:

Stevie Johnson

He’s on Revis island. Last time he was on Revis Island he actually came away with more than 80 yards receiving, and I’m sure Fitzpatrick will try to force him some footballs because of how few WR they have for Sunday, but that doesn’t mean Johnson will have the time to catch them. Sit em.

Marques Colston, Saints

This is a risky one by me, but Corey Webster has done a real good job of limiting big bodied wide receivers all season and despite many of their inadequacies the Giants have only given up 12 passing touchdowns all season.

Defense

Giants-even though I don’t think that Colston will have a huge game, I could see the Saints offense having a huge game. The other reason I have been off the Giants defense all season is because they don’t score touchdowns in their defense or their woeful return game. Sit ’em in fact you can release the Giants defense if you still have them.
