2012 BCS Bowl Predictions: Alabama-LSU Rematch on the Way
Assuming LSU beats Georgia in the SEC championship game and all goes according to plan, the BCS system will allow the two best teams in college football to play each other one more time, and the only unfortunate thing about it is that if Alabama wins the title, there will be no rubber match to decide who is truly the better team.
All State BCS National Championship Game:
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. LSU Tigers
This is a no-brainer. These are easily the two best teams in college football right now, and you simply cannot convince me otherwise. They both take care of business, and I don’t care if you thought the first matchup between them was boring.
Discover Orange Bowl:
Virginia Tech Hokies vs. West Virginia Mountaineers
Virginia Tech vs. West Virginia won’t get a lot of publicity, but this game would have some potential for offensive fireworks. I really like WVU quarterback Geno Smith and the speed of West Virginia against Logan Thomas and David Wilson at Va. Tech. I think this would be an interesting matchup but it won’t be the most viewed game by any means.
All State Sugar Bowl
Michigan Wolverines vs. Houston Cougars
This game would be wildly entertaining. You have two spread offenses with distinctly different styles as Houston loves to throw the ball from start to finish, and Michigan has a top of the line rushing attack led by quarterback Denard Robinson. One player who is really coming on lately is sophomore tailback Fitzgerald Toussaint, and that offense would be tough to contain for Houston, who is led by one of the best and more decorated quarterbacks in college football history–Case Keenum.
Rose Bowl Game presented by Vizio:
Oregon Ducks vs. Wisconsin Badgers
Man would I love to see this matchup of elite running backs. Montee Ball taking on LaMichael James in a game that has the potential to get into the 40’s on both sides. I love what Wisconsin has done this year. They are two hail marys away from being undefeated and in the thick of the BCS title game race. Oregon has been impressive all year long, and Wisconsin would really struggle with their speed.
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl:
Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Stanford Cardinal
Andrew Luck misses out on the national title, but has one last chance to out-duel another of the nation’s top quarterbacks in Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden. It would be interesting to see if the Stanford defense could hold Oklahoma State to a low enough score to actually give Andew Luck a chance. Hey, if Iowa State can do it…
