Joseph Fauria Scouting Report TE UCLA

facebooktwitterreddit

This is our Joseph Furia scouting report. Furia is a TE for the UCLA Bruins. Furia started his career at Norte Dame, but transferred, sat out a season and has really come on strong in 2011. For all of our other scouting reports go to our scouting report page.

Though I would say it’s more than fair to say that Fauria won’t declare this season for the N.F.L. draft.

Measurables:

6’8 252 pounds

(combine results posted when they become available)

Stats:

2011:

2010:

Receiving

123217.0020.31.8

Pros:

Extremely tall, which gives him a very wide radius to throw to…He’s athletic for his size and has a frame to add more weight…Can really catch the ball in traffic, has pretty soft hands…Good bloodlines, his uncle played in the N.F.L….has improved a lot as a blocker…

Cons:

Needs a lot of polish in his game as a receiver and blocker…As a receiver he doesn’t have a lot of experience and could improve his route running as a blocker he needs to continue to work on his leverage. 6’8 is big and it’s not easy to maintain your leverage at that size, however UCLA does run a lot and he’s improving in this area quite a bit…He hasn’t been extremely productive, but not a ton of Tight Ends are…He also transferred from Norte Dame for “personal reasons” but there were rumors that he had been kicked off campus, that will need to be looked into…

Player comparison: Mercedes Lewis, Jaguars

I don’t like making player comparisons of players from the same school because it seems lazy, but it’s a fairly apt comparison to me.

Bio:

UCLA –The tallest player on the roster, Fauria (FORE-ee-aye) will compete for playing time at tight end and see a larger role in 2011 … Made two scoring receptions among his three catches in 2010.

2010 – Appeared in 12 games off the bench and on special teams … Saw his first action as a Bruin in opener at Kansas State, but did not make a reception … Made his first catch as a Bruin at Oregon (7 yds) … Caught a four-yard pass for a touchdown at Arizona State … Hauled in a 10-yard scoring pass against USC … Concluded the year tied for the team-lead with his two touchdown receptions.
