Pros

Instinctive, makes a lot of plays on the ball and has pretty good hands…competitor…A good wrap up tackler…Plays really well when he has his eyes on the quarterback and in front of him…uses the sideline well…durable…will be the kind of guy who comes in and works hard on special teams until he gets his time

Cons

undersized…schematically limited, doesn’t have the speed, size, or strength to consistently win in man coverage, best fit is in a cover two zone scheme…going to struggle beating blocks in the run game vs good blocking wide receivers…Even though he’s smaller isn’t ideally suited to be a slot nickel cover guy

Player Comparison:

Alphonso Smith, if Smith was a more willing run supporter and Fenelus was a little better athlete.

Jerraud Powers is another possible, perhaps more apt comparison

Round projection:

This is a tough one to project because I think he lacks scheme versatility and is best suited for a team that plays a lot of zone. I think he’ll be drafted on the third day, but if he interviews well and times a little better a team (the Colts) could take him early round 4 (basically round 3). I think he’s looking at 5th or 6th round though.

Thoughts

Antonio Fenelus is a competitor and that’s what you love. What you don’t love his that he’s a smaller player, but he’s not a dynamic athlete. I think he’ll come into the league, make a team work hard on special teams and be part of sub packages and will make some plays on the football. He does a really good job of reading the quarterback and making plays on the football, he has quick hands and intecepts a good number of those passes, those that he can’t he knocks away. Alphonso Smith went basically for a first round pick (Josh McDaniels traded away a first rounder to draft him) but Smith is a better athlete and was even more productive in terms of taking the football away. Fenelus won’t develop into a starter, in my opinion, but could have a nice long career in the N.F.L.
