Iowa Hawkeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers Draft Watch
This game doesn’t mean for the National Championship as LSU and Arkansas does, but there are plenty of important things to watch for in this game if you’re a draft fan.

Iowa O vs Nebraksa defense
The best matchup of the day is probably going to be Marvin McNutt and Alfonzo Dennard, assuming they are playing across from each other. Marvin Mcnutt has had a huge season, the former quarterback has become a very fine WR capable of making big plays. Mcnutt has played himself into the early second round conversation. Dennard was considered by more than a few to be the superior CB prospect between him and Prince Amukamara. He started teh season hurt, but has been steadily improving since then. A good game from him today could solidfy him as a first round prospect.
The other huge prospect to watch is Iowa T Riley Reiff. If you’ve been living under a rock you may not know that talented DL Jared Crick is out for the season. His injury might not prevent him from the pre-draft process so he’s still a potential 1st round pick.
Nebraska’s second best defender is LB Lavonte David. David is a heady linebacker with good speed who lacks ideal size. In the right system David can be a three down linebacker in the N.F.L. His stock has been steadily ticking up and that could continue with another good game.
James Vandenberg, Iowa’s redshirt junior quarterback is not likely to declare for the N.F.L. draft, and is a future mid to late round pick in 2013
Iowa D and Nebraksa Offense
Iowa has a lot of potential day two picks in their secondary.
DB Shaun Prater, Micah Hyde, are two players who are working their way up and are slated as second day picks.
LB Tyler Nielsen is another guy who played fairly well this season.
Although we haven’t done a scouting report on him, Sayre and I have talked about Rex Burkhead and wondered if he’s similar to Roy Helu. He’s impressed me in every game I’ve watched. He’s just a solid all around guy. Good hands out of the backfield, finds holes in the line, and has a nose for the end-zone. If he continues to produce he’ll get a shot from someone.
Nebraska TE Kyle Reid hasn’t had a great season but he’s a late round draftable tight end.
