Baylor Robert Griffin III Impressive in Upset Over Oklahoma Sooners
On a good night for potential first round quarterbacks, none shone brighter than Robert Griffin III. Griffin had a whopping 479 yards passing and 72 yards rushing with four touchdowns. His last touchdown came in a final minute drive that began with Baylor backed up on their own 20 with less than a minute to play 51 seconds left in the game.
Griffin continues to show great accuracy on the deep ball, an ability to make a lot of plays outside of the pocket, and great decision making. Oh, let’s not forget his top end speed (has legitimate 4.4 speed-a former track All-star). Griffin and Kendall Wright are putting their stamp on College Football. Griffin is also a respected scholar to boot.
Here at NFLmocks I’ve routinely put Griffin in the top 10 of my mock draft because of his decision making, and physical abilities.Because I’m a little crazy I even had him going second overall in my latest mock draft , even though I have Barkley rated higher than Griffin III. For a long stretch of time early in the season Griffin had more touchdowns than he had in completions, to say he’s been accurate this year is an injustice. He’s been pristine with his accuracy, he couldn’t keep that pace all season, but has continued to make good decisions with the football and give his receivers (especially Wright) room to operate with the football. Even though they were outdone, both Landry Jones and Matt Barkley also had impressive performances on Saturday night. Barkley pulled off the upset over the Oregon Ducks effectively ruining their national championship bid. Barkley was 26 of 34 passing for 323 yards and four touchdowns (1 interception) and had twitter all abuzz with people wondering if he had put himself into the mix for top five.
Mayock on Barkley: “He doesn’t have a Carson Palmer skill set. But he throws on time, doesn’t take sacks, doesn’t throw interceptions.”
Barkley’s a terrific decision-maker. Good touch. Doesn’t force it. Let me find the Mike Mayock quote to me on Barkley. Hang on.

Jones, a player I do not love, racked up 447 yards passing on 51 attempts with no touchdowns and 1 INT (all of his touchdowns went to short runs by Blake Bell (a 6-6 245 battering ram of a quarterback who is going to draw many Cam Newton and Tim Tebow comparisons).
