5.43 forty yard dash, 29.5 inch vertical, 102 inch broad jump, 7.81 3 cone drill, 4.90 20 yard shuttle
Pros
Blocks through the whistle, and is a good run blocker who has pretty good lateral range (in the run game) and will get to the second level…more of a mirror pass blocker than a dominating pass blocker who will try to push rushers outside out of the play…versatile has played Tackle and guard at Pittsburgh (best suited as a guard at the N.F.L. level)…Plays aggressive and mean…
Cons
Doesn’t have the range to play tackle at the N.F.L. level…has improved his pad level throughout his career, but should continue to do that…Needs to get off the snap a bit quicker…
Round Projection:
4th round
Thoughts:
Nix is at his best when he’s asked to run block and could be a very solid starter at the N.F.L. level. He has pretty good athleticism and is a player that gets to his second level. The thing that you love most about Nix is his nasty demeanor. he can continue to add strength in the N.F.L. to improve his functional strength. He can also play tackle in a pinch, but is best suited to remain inside.
Bio:
2011 Scouting Report: Enters his third season as a starter on Pitt’s offensive line…has played versatile roles in his two prior years as a starter, contributing at both guard and tackle…slated to start at right tackle as a senior…owns 25 career starts…ready for an All-Big East caliber senior season.
2010: Played in all 13 games, starting 12…filled dual roles on Pitt’s offensive line…started season’s initial three games at right tackle before shifting to right guard for the Oct. 2 FIU contest…went on to start nine contests at right guard…lone missed start of the year was the Nov. 26 West Virginia game.
