2011 Heisman Watch: Trent Richardson Continues to Impress, Montee Ball on the Way Up
1. Montee Ball, Running Back, Wisconsin
Ball is not the flavor of the day, he is a dominant player. He has nearly 30 total touchdowns already this season and dating back to the last month or so of the 2010 season, I would argue that there is not a more dominant player in college football. This kid is for real, and he deserves major recognition.
2. Trent Richardson, Running Back, Alabama
Richardson continues to look like one of the best players in the country, and he showed Mississippi State a little bit of what he can do with 127 yards on the ground along with a touchdown. He is an all-around back who will be a high draft pick whenever he chooses to leave Alabama.
3. Case Keenum, Quarterback, Houston
Houston continues to put together an incredible offensive juggernaut, led by Keenum who is a sixth year senior. He completed nearly 76 percent of his passes in his latest game to go along with 325 yards and three touchdowns. He has 37 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions on the season.
4. Brandon Weeden, Quarterback, Oklahoma State
Weeden is having a monster season and has helped Oklahoma State to one of the best seasons in school history, on their way potentially to a national title. His latest game, he completed just short of 84 percent of his passes for 423 yards and five touchdown passes. On the season, he has 31 touchdown passes, but he does have nine interceptions.
5. Andrew Luck, Quarterback, Stanford
Luck proved against Oregon that he is human, and I will give him a benefit of the doubt since his wide receivers are absolutely horrible, but he didn’t look like the same Luck that we have grown accustomed to. He is not having a dominant enough season to be up there with some of the guys on this list, but he is still undoubtedly the top prospect in college football.
