Houston QB Case Keenum Throws Nine Touchdown Passes in Rout
Houston quarterback Case Keenum, the man often forgotten in college football (because it seems like he’s been there forever) is now the all-time leader in FBS history in touchdown passes with 139, including nine on Thursday alone.
Keenum was like a surgeon as the number one passing and scoring team in all the land was in rare form, going for 534 yards on just 24 completions.
Not to be outdone was the performance of wide receiver Patrick Edwards, who caught seven passes including five for scores. He racked up 318 yards and made some huge plays for the Cougars in their rout of Rice.
If there’s been one constant in college football the last couple of years, it’s been Case Keenum. Congratulations to him on an outstanding collegiate career, one that we hope continues into the NFL. This guy has been an absolute treat to watch, and deserves all the praise he has been getting for his performance on the field.
What we know about Keenum is that he has been a dominant college quarterback, and obviously that will work in his favor for the evaluation process. But he’s more than just a guy who picks on lesser competition. He has been a consistent player for five years and despite a bad injury in 2010, this is a kid who has a ton of heart, and throws a pretty ball as well.
Regardless of what he becomes at the next level, he will always be remembered as one of college football’s greatest quarterbacks.
