Fantasy Adds & Overreactions Week 7– DeMarco Murray has Felix Jones worried
By Editorial Staff
FANTASY ADDS (not all owned, but should be considered this week)
1- Terrell Owens DeMarco Murray (31)
I had him listed as number one last week, but he is still only owned in 1/3 of ESPN leagues. He had 8 more carries than Felix Jones has had in any of his previous games this year. Yes, it was against the Rams, but he gets the Eagles this week and they give up more fantasy points to RBs on average than St. Loius.
2- Alfonso Smith (7)
Smith filled in (17 carries) for Beanie Wells when he was out for week 3 and he looks to do the same while he is out now. The team has 7 rushing TDs to 5 receiving TDs, so he has a chance to do well, even though their offense is inept. And if he is out for 2 weeks (which looks very possible), he faces the record allowing rush defense (see Fantasy Add #1) of St. Louisnext week.
3- Jason Hill (6)
Gabbert has a favorite WR and his name is Jason Hill. Hill had 8 targets—next closest WR was a Mike not named Mike Thomas with 2. Hill’s last 3 fantasy point numbers were 17, 8 and 6.
4- Visanthe Shiancoe (10)
If you have a TE on a bye take a look. After week 7’s performance (8 targets & a TD) he has tied Harvin for MIN’s receiving targets lead. Rookie QBs usually look for their TE to dump the pass off quick and Shiancoe has produced well in fantasy before.
5- Shaun Hill (0)
Stafford is in a boot and he has a long injury past. The Lions have a bye after this week and they could possibly choose to rest him. If so, Hill could put up some big numbers. He filled in for Stafford last year with decent results and the Lions face Denver, who has given up the most fantasy points to opposing QBs. Could just be a bye week fill-in, or more if the injury is worse than expected.
FANTASY OVERREACTIONS (don’t go wasting a waiver spot for these guys just yet)
1- Kregg Lumpkin (4 points)
Earnest Graham was put on IR and Lumpkin looks to be the lone back on this team. However, TB is on a bye and Blount may come back by week 8. The team is struggling anyway and they will likely sign another RB during the bye to split carries with Lumpkin if Blount is not ready.
2- Dezmon Briscoe (13)
Another week, another TB WR with a breakout game. Last week it was Benn with 14 points and this week he backs it up with a goose egg. Briscoe is the #4 WR and they were throwing a lot to catch up.
3- Michael Jenkins (17)
Surprisingly Green Bayis allowing the 8th most points to WRs this season. Jenkins’ targets were increased because Percy Harvin left the game, yet he still only had 3 catches on 8 passes thrown to him.
4- Jared Cook (8)
His team was behind big and early, but he still didn’t see a lot of passes his way (2 total). He had only his second TD all year and the other two TEs on the team combined for the same amount of targets.
5- Michael Bush (10)
He had a big game after McFadden’s injury, bu tOakland is on a bye and McFadden’s injury doesn’t look too serious. Also– Carson Palmer will be his quarterback.
