Good presence in locker room
Great possession receiver
Cons:
Lacks elite speed
Tends to round off routes
Disappears in red zone for long periods of time
Lacks the necessary athletic ability to be a true #1 WR
Small hands
Player Comparison: Anquan Boldin
Round Projection: Day Three likely mid 5th to mid 6th
Summary:
BJ Cunningham mirrors Boldin in the fact both are big, physical receivers who churn out a ton of first downs but few big plays. Cunningham has great body control, is able to get tough yards after the catch, he is a ferocious blocker who springs a ton of long runs for the run game, and works tirelessly on his craft. If he had elite speed he would be an early pick. He will be a very sound #2 WR who complements a deep passing game by moving the chains. He would work well on a team who prefers to run and uses the passing game to move the chains….such as: Jets, Ravens, Raiders, Redskins, Vikings, and 49ers.
