Alabama RB Trent Richardson Would be Critical Component to Tim Tebow’s Development

The Denver Broncos are beginning “the future” of their team on Sunday when Tim Tebow will start at quarterback against the Miami Dolphins.

One of the biggest surprises of the Broncos this season has been the emergence of veteran Willis McGahee, who at 29 years old is playing arguably the best football he has in years. Knowshon Moreno has been a disappointment as a runner, but as a receiver he has been excellent and should have a role on this team in that regard going forward.

One thing we know from John Fox’s days in Carolina is that he loves to build his  team around the running game. If the Broncos are picking in the top 10, I feel like they have a chance to nab one of the most gifted runners to come along in quite some time–Alabama’s Trent Richardson.

Richardson is putting together a Heisman type of season with 16 total touchdowns. He has an excellent work ethic and is an extremely tough runner. I would not be surprised to see the Broncos add a couple of backs next offseason to compete, possibly a high draft pick and maybe another in the later rounds.

They also lost Mario Fannin to injury this offseason, a guy some thought could make an immediate impact this year.

At this point, though, I feel like Richardson is a player who could really significantly boost the development of Tim Tebow if the Broncos move forward with him as the franchise quarterback, something I think they will do.
