Welcome back to another edition of Fantasy Football Start and Sit where I’ll have a little discourse on what I plan on doing in my fantasy teams and then throwing out some names that you  should start and sit around the league.

NFLmocks writers League

Quarterback:

I have two good quarterbacks, but both have tough games. Matthew Stafford is going up against the stingy 49ers defense, while on the other hand I have Matt Schuab going up against the Ravens (without Andre Johnson).

I also have the 49ers defense to play, so whatever Stafford does negates what the 49ers do. This is a very tough call for me, but I’m leaning towards starting Stafford for now and letting Schuab play. The reason? Stafford can still throw to his stud WR while Schuab doesn’t have much to throw to.

Running back

Fred Jackson is a must start and an easy decision. After that it gets a little bit icky.

My primary running back is Chris Johnson (bye week). My #3 RB is Joseph Addai (unlikely to play).

My backups are: Delone Carter, Pierre Thomas, Ben Tate.

I’m going to start Delone Carter with the Colts going up against Cincinnati in a move that I feel absolutely terrible about. The Bengals have the leagues most underrated defense, but Tate splitting carries with Arian Foster (and Foster getting the Lion’s share) vs the Ravens isn’t a picnic either).

WR

Vincent Jackson is on a bye, so he’s a no go.

My other two WR spots are easy picks: Hakeem Nicks vs the Bills pass defense and Dez Bryant vs the weak Patriots defense. With my other tough matchups, this is where my chance to win this week is at the WR spot.

Tight End

My tight end is Dustin Keller. The Jets pass offense looks awful, but I’m going to ride with Keller for this week going up against the pathetic Miami Dolphins.

Flex

In this league there are two flex plays. A RB/WR play and a RB/WR/TE

My backups available to play the RB WR Spot are: Jacoby Jones, Pierre Thomas, and Ben Tate

Yuck. I’m going to go ahead and play Pierre Thomas facing the Buccaneers of Jacoby Jones playing the Ravens. Jones hasn’t been impressive this year and is probably going to be released by me here soon especially when Andre Johnson gets back.

My other flex is going to be Aaron Hernadez. Hopefully a healthy Aaron Hernandez.

My kicker is Rian Lindell and my defense is the 49ers.

My opponet (Christopher Halfer-Mr. Freakin’ Fantasy) is playing: Tony Romo, Ray Rice, Matt Forte, Marques Colston, A.J. Green, Greg Olson, Payton Hillis, Earnest Graham, Janikowski, and the Jets defense.

Pretty tough, especially if Hills does anything.

Fansided League

In my other league I started out 3-0 and scoring the most points in the league and then Kenny Britt got hurt and it’s been all downhill from there.

I made a move this week trading away Ahmad Bradshaw to Andrew Ilnicki (gmenhq.com) for Miles Austin. A move I think works out well for both of us as I was very weak at WR and he was weak at running back.

I also have an offer on the table for a major over-haul of my roster I’m considering.

I give up: Stevie Johnson, Darren Mcfadden, Michael Bush, and Dallas Clark. In exchange I would get Fred Jackson, Andre Johnson, Owen Daniels, and Barnard Scott.

Anyway to my plays.

Last week I sat Big Ben in favor of Matt Hasselbeck in the ‘dumbest move of the year’. This year I’m going with Big Ben playing the Jaguars because A) they are terrible in the secondary and B) Hasselbeck is on a buy.

My running backs are stacked:

Ray Rice and Darren McFadden are the crux to my team. They have good matchups too (vs Houston and Cleveland respectively).

Wide Receivers

Stevie Johnson-Johnson hasn’t been great this year, but the Giants pass defense is pretty awful so Johnson has a good chance to really produce this weekend.

Miles Austin-Will take the place of Torrey Smith who I had been starting since Kenny Britt’s injury (Yes it was that bad). Austin plays @NE in a game that should see plenty of points on both sides.

My TE is Dallas Clark who hasn’t found a rythm in this offense yet. My defense is the 49ers. This defense is for real. They don’t have a great matchup this week, but they are good vs the run, force a lot of turnovers, AND have Ted Ginn returning punts which means they could always bring one back to the house.

I have to pick up a Kicker because Rob Bironas is on a bye.

Flex position:

This is my toughest decision. I have one RB/WR flex and not much depth.

Brandon Jacobs is out vs Buffalo or he would be the play. Lee Evans is also out vs Houston (and has yet to play).

I could play Fred Davis vs the Eagles at Tight End (which I’m still considering) considering how bad they are in the middle of the field, but I can’t play him at the flex (or I would).

My other three options are Michael Bush, Antonio Brown, or Torrey Smith. I don’t really like any of those plays right now I’m leaning towards Michael Bush over Antonio Brown.
