Buffalo Bills Beat the New England Patriots 34-31. Fred Jackson for M.V.P.

Watching any analyst from every program or station and it was clear the New England Patriots would rout the Buffalo Bills, but Chris Berman the man who picks the Bills so much he gave Ralph Wilson’s Hall of Fame Induction speech is similing along with millions of other Bills fans.

The Buffalo Bills picked off Tom Brady 4 times in route to the 38-35 win. Brady moved the ball really well all day, but suffered at the hands of a few tipped balls and also a couple of really nice plays by Buffalo cornerbacks. Leodis McKelvin had a huge interception where he beat the WR on the route. Drayton Florence had a pick six towards the end of the game.

The Bills were able to keep pace with the Patriots, despite a whopping 216 yards receiving from Wes Welker and another 109 from Gronkowski. Brady ended the day 30 for 45 for 387 yards with 4 TD and 4 INT.

The criminally underused Fred Jackson made a huge impact in the game. He only had 12 carries but collected 74 yards (and a touchdown) and had 5 recpetions for 87 yards, including his final catch that he brought down to the one yard line, after official review overruled a touchdown. What happened next was confusing as Bill Belichik was charged with a time out (the Patriots had two), though it was never explained why. It would be illogical to take on. After the charged time out the Bills kneeled the ball, but the Patriots got hit with a penalty for hitting Fitzpatrick. This allowed the Bills to kneel the clock all the way down to three seconds where Rian Lindell connected on a field goal to give the Bills their first win vs the Patriots after 15 straight loses. It’s early, but so far Jackson has to be among the M.V.P candidate in the season. I know, I know, I need to not be a prisoner of the moment, but seriously he has been absolutely awesome this season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Free agent after this season had another big game 27 for 40 for 369 yards passing. The Bills have started 3-0 by beating the Chiefs, Raiders, and Patriots in successive weeks and being a potent offense. Who knows if this will last, but the Bills have had a great season so far and have the Bengals next week. They could start the season 4-0 and maybe even have a real shot at making the playoffs if things break right.
