Henry Hynoski

I thought Hynoski had a poor game on Monday night. He missed at least two big blocks, and for me that’s bad. When you’re a full back in the New York Giants offense you have two jobs only. Number one, make sure you hit someone on every play and make room for the running back too. Catch that three yard outlet pass from Eli Manning that he throws once a game. Hynoski can catch better than any Giants fullback in awhile, but he missed a couple of blocks on Monday, badly. He just whiffed on the defensive player. He’s a good looking young full back and fits the Giants well, but they can’t have him missing blocks like that if they want to have him on the field. Teams know he’s not running the ball which makes him virtually a linemen in the backfield. Can’t have those misses. C’mon man.

Jacquian Williams

The pick that was hated on by analysts, and draftniks’ alike as a major reach. Williams has been the New York Giants BEST rookie to date. And it’s not even that close. He has shown a dynamite ability to play the game fast. He’s not always where he’s suppose to be, but he’s pretty close and he’s plus in coverage. He also has been able to get pressure, or at least near pressures on the quarterbacks on his few blitzes. On Monday night Williams quietly had 7 tackles and was on the field more than any other Giants rookie on Special teams and on defensive plays. Williams is not near a finished product, but it seems the Giants might have know what they were doing when they drafted him, despite whatever McShay Kiper, and other draftnik types had to say about him.

Two plays stand out for me by Williams on Monday night. The first is on the first drive when the Giants were facing the rams going no-huddle. They Giants were getting run of the field by the Rams and their fast tempo, and when they were in the goal line if you watch Deon Grant go down you can look behind him and see that Williams was on his way down to the ground as well. Now, this is a very veteran move (Williams got up as soon as he saw Grant on the ground, clearly faking). Regardless of what you think of the move, I love that he has the presence of mind to make that move.

Second: on the play that resulted in the touchdown for Michael Boley because of the backwards lateral, the player making Bradford hurry the throw was Williams. He was in the backfield in an instant. In the highlight you can see
him in the backfield in a split second. That was a very fast play, but there’s Williams. Boley is also considered a very fast linebacker and Williams looks like he’s gliding next to him while he’s running for the score. Williams will never be a dominant run stopper, but he’s going to be apart of the Giants nickel packages for awhile.

Of course the focus of this video on everyone but myself is Michael Boley blasting some poor guy in the face with a football. That’s not of concern to me really though. But if you like that enjoy that as well.
