Transactions:
Another week I failed to use the waiver wire. Scoring the most points in the league makes one press the pause button on transactions, as stated last week. I have thought about replacing Marshawn Lynch and Steven Ridley as my 4th and 5th RB’s but decided to wait. Currently there is nothing but fodder on the waiver wire but the patient Vulture always finds a meal…that was a weird saying I made up…I think I will retire it. Anyways, keeping an eye on injuries as well as trends is the way to improve your playoff level team to Super Bowl level. Just look at my pickup of Ben Tate. He has been giving me 100 yards a week so far…cash in the bank.
Starters
Matthew Stafford is the reason for my success. He has a tough matchup at Minnesota this week. I will start him unless he is injured or on a bye week. My backup, Joe Flacco, is not a threat. While he plays the Rams, which is a favorable matchup….Stafford is elite and you do not bench elite players.
Ray Rice and Darren McFadden are the backbone of my team. Rice and McFadden will give me a chance to win every week. Rice plays the Rams which I can see big things…though his hiccup versus the Titans was not foreseeable…still got in the end zone and his receptions helped.
McFadden plays the dreaded Jets. I do not like playing him but as stated elite talent does not go on the bench…though about playing Tate and using a WR as my utility player….but I live by my beliefs.
Steve Johnson plays the Patriots and has been limited by a sore groin. He has posted good numbers with it and while the Patriots are an elite team…their defense is not. I still expect solid numbers from Johnson. It was a tossup between him and Reggie Wayne…but he plays the Steelers and while he will get garbage time stats…I don’t likeWaynefor the moment.
Wes Welker in a PPR league is dynamite. I was harassed for drafting him in round 4 but I thought I was getting a steal. Fantasy drafting 101…do not have one big board for all formats…know your scoring format. Welker plays the Bills and has had a solid career versus them. Bills are much better this season but Brady will level their defense. I expect a big day for Welker.
Tough decision once again. Deion Branch or Jordy Nelson. Branch has wasted away on my stacked roster and I should trade him….but I love the depth he gives me. Nelson has been what I thought he would be….FANTASY SLEEPER OF THE YEAR…he also plays the Bears who can be overwhelmed by elite pass offenses…I reluctantly went with Nelson.
At TE Jimmy Graham posted solid numbers against a defense that shuts down most TE’s inGreen BayandChicago. Now he plays the Texans who have shut down Dallas Clark and Anthony Fasano. I think they will have a hard time shutting down Graham. Besides I have no backup and I have the utmost faith in Brees. Rock on true believers.
For my utility start it is once again Ben Tate. He is bringing me fantasy gold as well as a speech bet from a good friend of mine. He plays the Saints and I think with Arian Fosters injury problem that he will get a full days work load. Who knows what he can do with increased carries. I sense a big day much to my opponents dismay.
Rob Bironas has had one bad week and one good week. His only miss so far was from a 66 yards try. Don’t know what that was all about. Titans play the Broncos at home and I can see a solid outing by Bironas…especially as long as the Titans run game stalls…was CJ worth the money? He has been asking for more every season unlike Adrian Peterson.
Cowboy’s defense is playing the Redskins offense. While they will give up yards I sense a good amount of sacks as well as turnovers as I hope we see bad Rex for the first time this year.
Foe:
Sun Tzu states, “Know thy enemy.” My enemy is my cousin in law who cleverly uses the name Urine trouble. He is about to have fantasy trouble as well, drink some cranberry juice sucka. He currently is in 7th place but his team should improve if he can avoid anymore injuries.
His starting lineup is impressive with: Phillip Rivers, Dwayne Bowe, Davone Bess, Jabar Gaffney, Adrian Peterson, Ryan Matthews, Kellen Winslow, Julio Jones, Dan Carpenter, and the Ravens defense.
Now having Adrian Peterson and Phillip Rivers always gives you a chance but your receivers or lack thereof is confusing in a PPR league!!!! Also Matthews has not broken out quite yet and Carpenter and the Ravens defense has not helped out much. I sense another victory.
Prediction:
While Yahoo predicts that I will win a close game….Yahoo is not to be trusted. They do not keep up on how players do year in and year out and are late to change their player evaluation. Yahoo probably thinks Carson Palmer will score points this week. I expect an easier victory this week, some crying from my opponent, and another week convincing any readers that I know what I am doing….I think.
