Week 2 Fantasy Opponent: X-Men

My Fantasy Preparations Record 1-0
Opponent
X-Men
Record 1-0
Transactions:
No transactions to speak of. Once I realized David Buehler was not going to start I picked up Rob Bironas fromTennessee. He is stable; though, I do not know if the offense is going to present him many scoring opportunities.
Scoring the most points in the league makes one press the pause button on transactions. I still viewed the waver wire though as any studious fantasy owner would do and a few names for other to see are: Randall Cobb who could have a solid season in total yards. Ryan Fitzpatrick should be a name that people go after. Rickey Williams ran the ball hard and appears that he will get a handful of carries each week. Evan Moore is a solid red zone threat at TE. If Chris Cooley is hobbled for a long period of time, Fred Davis could bust out. Keeping up on the waiver wire is essential in fantasy so as Jim Rome says often, “Step your game up!”
Starters
Well my faith in Matthew Stafford was rewarded. IfStaffordcan post huge numbers against a solid defense on the road…what can he do at home versus the Chiefs? I expect around 300 yards and 2-3 touch downs.
Ray Rice and Darren McFadden are the backbone of my team. Rice dominated a Steelers defense? Wow. First time that sentence has ever been uttered. This week he plays on the road versus the Titans. Titans allowed MJD to have a solid week last week so I expect huge things from Ray Rice. 130-140 total yards, 1-2 TD’s, and 4-5 receptions are my predictions.
Darren McFadden is on the road against the Bills. McFadden and his OL appear solid. The Bills did a solid job on Charles last week so they won’t be the easiest matchup. I feel that 100 total yards, 1 TD, and 3-4 receptions is reasonable.
Reggie Wayne seems to be unflappable. It does not matter who is throwing him the ball or covering him. This week he goes against the Browns at home and will be mostly covered by Joe Haden. I think 6-7 receptions, 80-90 yards, and a touchdown will be attained.
Wes Welker in a PPR league is dynamite. I was harassed for drafting him in round 4 but I thought I was getting a steal. Fantasy drafting 101…do not have one big board for all formats…know your scoring format. Welker plays the Chargers who shut down the Vikings pass game. They will not do the same versus the Patriots. I think 7-8 receptions for 70-80 yards and 1 Touchdown.
Steve Johnson is going against a mediocre secondary inOakland. Johnson is Fitzpatrick’s first read on most plays. I think he will have a huge day and is my start of the week. I think 6 receptions, 100-110 yards, and 1-2 Touchdowns.
At TE Jimmy Graham posted solid numbers against a defense that shuts down most TE’s inGreen Bay. Now he is playing another TE killer inChicago. I do not have backups so I say let it ride. I do not expect much: 3-4 receptions, for 30 yards, and zero touchdowns.
For my utility start it is between 2 players, Ben Tate and Jordy Nelson. Ben Tate is my start until Foster is fully healthy. If Foster cannot go than Tate is my start versus the Dolphins. Dolphins are solid against the run and Tate is not used much in the passing game but Ward is dinged up and Tate will get a ton of touches due to the fact that depth is no longer there. I expect around 100-110 total yards and a touchdown and 3 receptions. If Tate is not going to start than it is Jordy Nelson playing a horrible Panthers secondary. I might start Nelson anyways thinking about the matchup. I think 7-9 receptions for 80-100 yards and 1 touchdown is expected.
Kicker Bironas will not score much with the Titans playing the Ravens. 4-5 points is what I am hoping for.
Cowboy’s defense is playing a 49ers offense that cannot protect the QB or move the ball. Cowboys are in for a big day.
Foe:
Sun Tzu states, “Know thy enemy.” My enemy is a very obnoxious person who loves the X-Men. His team had a solid 1st week…I doubt he has a second one.
His team is solid starting: Drew Brees, Andre Johnson, Steve Smith (CAR), Pierre Garcon, DeAngelo Williams, DeMarco Murray, Antonio Gates, Jermaine Gresham, Mason Crosby, and the Jets defense. Team also has Hakeem Nicks but it is unsure if he will play this week. I hope he doesn’t. He obviously has some top heavy talent but lacks depth to keep him in this week’s game. Where are the RB talent at? If the X-Men are children of the atom…they have no business in an adult game. Be prepared to be written off.
Prediction:
While Yahoo predicts that I will win a close game….Yahoo is not to be trusted. They do not keep up on how players do year in and year out and are late to change their player evaluation. Yahoo probably thinks Carson Palmer will score points this week. I expect an easier victory this week, some crying from my opponent, and another week convincing any readers that I know what I am doing….I think.
