Matt Flynn is the Next Kevin Kolb, and the Packers are Very Deep
Matt Flynn completed 11 of his 18 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown in the Packers’ first pre-season game against the Cleveland Browns, and against the Arizona Cardinals on Friday night he completed five of his six passes for 141 yards, including a 97 yard strike (perfect strike, by the way) to wide receiver Chastin West, who is having the game of his life.
Flynn also showed last year that he has some skill when he performed great against the New England Patriots, and he is still only 26 years old. If you are looking for the next Matt Schaub or Kevin Kolb–here he is playing behind Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers.
I don’t think I’m the first person to predict this, but I anticipate the Packers will receive quite a haul for Flynn next offseason, and you have to believe they will be looking for something similar to what the Eagles received for Kevin Kolb, which was a starter and a second round draft pick.
Flynn has good tape and some team will probably be willing to overpay (Seahawks) for his services next year.
In addition, we have breaking news here at NFL Mocks–the Green Bay Packers are the deepest team in the NFL. Yes, it has been confirmed over the last year that the Packers are indeed better than your favorite team, and they are likely even better than most Packers fans even realize. I said after their Super Bowl victory that they were primed to be the NFL’s next dynasty, and I think you can see in the pre-season that they have great, fantastic depth.
