#4 LSU Tigers Season Preview
By Editorial Staff
LSU Quarterback Jordan Jefferson will dictate how many points LSU’s offense scores.
Offensive Outlook: Besides dual threat Jordan Jefferson, go to receiver Rueben Randle, and a run blocking offensive line LSU’s offense does not provide much and is suspect to other SEC Teams. In one magazine LSU is being listed as a preseason favorite ranked #1 overall which is way too high. This offense lacks the talent it had last year and I really would not be shocked if LSU let down everyone and went 5-7. Ridley is gone, Joseph Barksdale gone, and Brandon LaFell is gone.
Defensive Outlook: Losing Patrick Peterson does not set this secondary back one bit. They still have Morris Claiborne and Tyrann Mathieu at cornerback. Strong Safety Brandon Taylor is another player who could have a big year. Usually you do not want to run on Les Miles and his run stopping defense. LSU has such a strong secondary returning you may have more success on the Tigers by running the football.
Prediction 8-4: LSU has a brutal schedule. I know its hard to see LSU winning less than 9 games. LSU has a road contest against Mississippi State, they travel to Tennessee on the road. Tennessee should have won last year in Death Valley, but LSU got an extra play. LSU travels to Alabama plus the game where they host Arkansas could be a loss because Arkansas has the passing game to pick apart a secondary this good.
LSU should just be greatful that they did not get South Carolina on their schedule. If LSU got South Carolina ended up on LSU’s schedule this would be a team with a chance of missing a bowl game.
