#2 Oklahoma Sooners Season Preview
By Editorial Staff
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones showed America what he could do when filling in for Sam Bradford as a redshirt freshman.
Offensive Outlook: Landry Jones is returning. While I am not buying Jones as a pro prospect he will do well this season for Oklahoma. Jones will do very well with the supporting cast returning.
Oklahoma has one of the best offensive lines returning. Oklahoma has two pass blocking tackles with left tackle Donald Stephenson and right tackle Jarvis Jones. The interior offensive line for Oklahoma can pass block really well too. Left Guard Stephen Good, center Ben Habern, and right guard Tyler Evans really do an outstanding job helping the offensive tackles by Landry Jones more time in the pocket when he drops back to pass.
Landry has two receiving targets he can throw to with Ryan Broyles and Kenny Stillis at the wide receiver position. Both receivers are due for huge campaigns.
Defensive Outlook: Oklahoma’s defensive line is deadly. At one point there was talk about how this front 7 was unstoppable. I don’t think that’s the case anymore. Thanks to the injury of right outside linebacker Travis Lewis the team does have some holes in the front 7. If you can crack those holes with your running game and balance the passing game out by picking apart the Sooners secondary you can defeat Oklahoma.
Prediction 12-0 Big 12 Champion: Despite Lewis’s injury I believe the Sooners will run the table during the regular season. If Oklahoma plays Alabama in New Orleans the team will be in for a rude awakening.
