Kevin Boss Seems to Be Down To the New York Giants or Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders lost one of the best free agents on the market when Zach Miller defected to Seattle to Tom Cable, Pete Carroll, and the rest of the Seahawks. But that doesn’t mean that the Raiders are doomed at the tight end spot this upcoming season.

According to Adam Schein’s twitter account Kevin Boss said, “while he wants to go back to the giants, the raiders would interest him if they lost z miller. he is from the west coast” and then tonight I saw that one of the Oakland Raiders beat reporters, Vittori Tafur, the Raiders have mutual interest in Kevin Boss.

Boss knows Waufle from Giants days, just needs to pass physical here and agree on some numbers with Davis

It’s very possible that the Raiders will come to terms with Kevin Boss. If that happens what are the Raiders getting?

First they are getting one of the better two way tight ends in the league. He’s a plus blocker, on top of that he’s an adequate receiver. He’s one of the few complete tight ends in the league. In the passing game, Boss is considered by the Giants to be one of their most clutch performers in the passing game. He’s made big catches int he playoffs, and superbowl. He’s a very big target listed at 6-6 253 pounds. He averaged 15.2 yards per reception last year and had five touchdown catches. He has at least five touchdown catches in each of the last three year. Boss is not used as a possession WR for the Giants, he has less than 80 combined catches the past two seasons. The biggest problem about Boss, and maybe the biggest reason why he hasn’t resigned with the Giants, is that he has a history of concussions in his short career, which could be alarming.

Boss isn’t a premiere player, but in this weak TE free agent class, he’s the second best option that was out there behind Zach Miller.
